Abstract: Objective To understand the current status of thyroid nodules among employees in a large electrical manufacturing company in Wuhu City, and analyze its risk factors,so as to provide a certain basis for the prevention of thyroid nodules. Methods A total of 4 159 employees aged 18 to 85 from a large electrical manufacturing company in Wuhu City who underwent occupational health examinations at the health management center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Wannan Medical College from January to July 2022 were selected as the research subjects. Determine whether employees had thyroid nodules through color Doppler ultrasonography, and divide them into non-thyroid nodules group(n=1 546) and thyroid nodules group(n=2 613). The detection and characteristics of thyroid nodules in different age groups were analyzed. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to determine independent risk factors for thyroid nodules in different age groups. Results The total detection rate of 4 159 subjects was 62.83%,including 700 cases of male thyroid nodules with a detection rate of 49.16%,and 1 913 cases of female thyroid nodules, with a detection rate of 69.95%. There was a statistically significant difference in the detection rate of thyroid nodules among employees of different genders(P<0.01). There was a statistically significant difference in the detection rate of thyroid nodules among different age groups, and the detection rate of thyroid nodules increased with age(χ2=171.102,P<0.01). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that gender, age, surgical history,aspartate/alanine aminotransferase, thyrotropin, free tetraiodothyronine, and thyrotropin abnormalities were independent risk factors for thyroid nodules in electrical appliance manufacturing employees in southern Anhui region. Conclusion The occurrence of thyroid nodules in electrical appliance manufacturing industry in southern Anhui region is closely related to age, suggesting that employees and managers in the electrical appliance manufacturing industry in this area should pay attention to the screening of thyroid nodules in different ages groups.
