Abstract: Objective To investigate the correlation among regulatory focus, professional values and occupational delay of gratification of clinical nurse in grade-A tertiary hospitals, and to provide scientific and effective basis for nursing management. Methods In November 2023,a convenience sampling survey was conducted on 321 nurses from 9 grade-A tertiary hospitals in Tianjin,Beijing, and Hebei Province using a questionnaire star format, including a general information questionnaire,a nurse professional values scale,a nurse regulatory focus scale, and a vocational delay of gratification scale, and the data were analyzed. Results The scores for occupational delay of gratification, regulatory focus, and professional values of 321 nurses were (24.39±3.15),(49.41±4.43) and (107.66±10.22)points,respectively.The comparison of occupational delay of gratification scores among nurses of different genders and educational backgrounds showed statistically significant differences(both P<0.05). Gender, education level, promoting regulatory focus, and professional values were all influencing factors of nurses' occupational delay of gratification(all P<0.05). Conclusion The occupational delay of gratification of 321 nurses is at a moderate level. Enhancing nurses' facilitative regulatory focus and professional values has a significant positive impact on improving their job satisfaction. Nursing managers can enhance the professional satisfaction of nurses and further promote the overall development of the nursing team by strengthening their corresponding abilities.
