Abstract: Objective To solve the problem of indoor air pollution in health clubs, explore the optimization methods of indoor air quality and centralized air conditioning ventilation system in health clubs. Methods From August to December 2023,28 health clubs in Shanghai were investigated. The current status of indoor air environment in health clubs was studied through the actual on-site survey and the review of design drawings, and analyzed from the aspects of design, operation and maintenance, and management. The computational fluid dynamics(CFD) software was used to simulate various air supply and return methods. Results The indoor pollutants in the 28 health clubs surveyed can be divided into three types:chemical, physical, and biological pollution. 23(82.1%) were remodeled buildings,of which eight had unqualified indoor environmental items. 6(21.4%) had outdoor fresh air outlets that were blocked. 1(3.6%) had an outdoor fresh air outlet that was too low in height. 18(64.3%) lacked cleanliness and maintenance of indoor air outlets. Some clubs had hygiene problems such as high concentration of pollutants indoors and non-standard design of centralized air conditioning and ventilation systems. The numerical simulation results showed that the displacement ventilation method was much more effective than the top-feeding and bottom-returning and top-feeding and top-returning exhaust methods. Conclusion Active implementation of hygienic evaluation, setting reasonable indoor and outdoor fresh air outlets, adopting replacement ventilation exhaust methods and strengthening hygienic management of air-conditioning ventilation systems can significantly reduce indoor pollutant concentrations and maintain a high-quality indoor environment.
