Abstract:

Objective To establish a carbonate system-ion chromatography method for the simultaneous determination of two anions(F-,NO3-) and three disinfection by-products(dichloroacetic acid, trichloroacetic acid, chlorate) in drinking water,so as to provide a technical reference for the detection of anions and disinfection by-products in drinking water. Methods The water samples were automatically injected by Inline ultrafiltration, eluted isocratically with 3.6 mmol/L carbonate + 10% methanol, separated by anion chromatography column, and detected by conductivity detector. Results The peak area and concentration of 2 anions and 3 disinfection by-products showed good linear relationships(allR2>0.999). The detection limits of fluoride, nitrate, dichloroacetic acid, chlorate, and trichloroacetic acid were 2.1,1.3,2.5,1.6 and 4.4 μg/L,respectively,and the quantitation limits were 7.1,4.5,8.4,5.5 and 14.8 μg/L,respectively. The spiked water samples with low, medium and high concentrations were measured, and the spiked recovery rate was 86.2% to 110.3%,and the relative standard deviation(RSD) of all samples were<7%,and the precision range was 0.18% to 3.83%. Conclusion This method is simple and fast to operate, the results are accurate and reliable, and can simultaneously determine two anions(F-,NO3-) and three disinfection by-products(dichloroacetic acid, trichloroacetic acid, chlorate) in drinking water.
