Abstract:

Objective To investigate the effect of fragmented short time exercise(ES) intervention strategy on the physical shape, flexibility, muscle strength, occupational burnout, and quality of life of female nursing staff during work, and to provide assistance in promoting the work efficiency of clinical nursing talents. Methods A total of 102 female nurses working in Shanghai Jing'an District Central Hospital from March 2022 to July 2023 were selected as the survey subjects and randomly divided into the control group(50 cases) and the intervention group(52 cases). The control group worked normally and exercised, and the intervention group was treated with ES protocol. Both groups were treated for 4 months, and data were collected at baseline, the pre-intervention stage (T0),2 months after the intervention(T1),4 months after the intervention(T2),6 months after the intervention ended(T3),and 12 months after the intervention ended(T4),including body shape[body mass index(BMI)],flexibility(reaction speed,5 m steps, time to sit up 5 times),muscle strength(left hand grip),job burnout[Maslach burnout inventory(MBI)] and quality of life[36-item short form health survey(SF-36)]. Results At times T2,T3 and T4,the BMI[(24.73±4.30),(24.29±4.40),(23.22±4.41)kg/m2] of the intervention group was significantly lower than that of the control group(all P<0.05),and repeated measures results showed significant time effects,between-group effects, and interaction effects between the two groups(all P<0.01). At times T1,T2,T3 and T4,the reaction speed[(821.00±174.37),(803.12±245.47),(745.92±131.25),(673.63±106.93)s],5-meter walking speed [(3.12±0.86),(2.74±0.48),(2.62±0.48),(2.29±0.35) m/s],and 5-repetition sit-to-stand time[(7.08±1.39),(6.67±1.38),(6.25±1.36),(5.33±1.06)s] in the intervention group were significantly better than those in the control group(all P<0.05),and significant time effects,between-group effects, and interaction effects between the two groups were found(all P<0.01). At times T1,T2,T3 and T4,the left-hand grip strength[(23.74±5.42),(24.44±5.05),(24.68±6.24),(25.47±4.73)kg] in the intervention group was significantly higher than that in the control group(all P<0.05),and there were significant time effects,between-group effects, and interaction effects between the two groups(all P<0.01). At times T1,T2,T3 and T4,the MBI scores and total scores[(81.21±5.08),(78.42±6.63),(76.98±7.99),(73.67±6.58)points] of the intervention group were significantly better than those of the control group, and the differences in time effects,between-group effects, and interaction effects were all statistically significant(all P<0.01).At times T1,T2,T3 and T4,the total score[(81.00±13.8),(82.73±14.67),(83.29±13.86),(85.32±12.96)points] and scores of each dimension of the intervention group were significantly better than those of the control group(all P<0.05),and the differences in time effects,between-group effects, and interaction effects were all statistically significant(all P<0.01). Conclusion Implementing the ES intervention program among female healthcare workers can effectively improve body shape, enhance physical flexibility, strengthen muscle strength, significantly alleviate occupational burnout symptoms,,and improve quality of life.
