Abstract:

Objective To investigate the current situation of job burnout, hidden absenteeism and mental climate among thoracic surgery nurses, and to analyze the mediating role of mental climate between hidden absenteeism and job burnout. Methods From September to November 2024,201 thoracic surgery nurses from five tertiary hospitals in Shanghai were selected as the research subjects through convenience sampling, and the data were analyzed. Results The scores of mental climate, job burnout and hidden absenteeism of 201 thoracic surgery nurses in Shanghai were (60.59±7.09),(51.43±5.85) and (16.97±4.73)points,respectively. There was a positive correlation between hidden absenteeism and job burnout of nurses in thoracic surgery department(r=0.664,P<0.01),and a negative correlation between hidden absenteeism and mental climate(r=-0.835,P<0.01),and a negative correlation between mental climate and job burnout(r=-0.772,P<0.01). The mediating effect of mental climate between hidden absenteeism and job burnout accounted for 90.49% of the total effect. Conclusion The level of job burnout of 201 thoracic surgery nurses in Shanghai is at a medium level, and mental climate plays a partial mediating role between hidden absenteeism and job burnout. Nursing managers should pay attention to their mental climate and hidden absenteeism,so as to reduce job burnout and turnover rate of nurses.
