Abstract:

Objective To analyze the impact of fear of missing out(FoMO) on occupational psychology of intensive care unit(ICU) nurses, and understand its correlation with work flow and job burnout and key influencing factors,so as to provide evidence-based support for the construction of hierarchical intervention system. Methods A multicenter cross-sectional study design was adopted. From July to October 2024,265 ICU nurses from 6 grade-A tertiary hospitals in Suzhou were selected as the research objects by systematic sampling. The Chinese version of fear of missing out scale, work flow scale and Maslach burnout inventory were used for evaluation, and the data were analyzed. Results The total score of FoMO of ICU nurses was (17.72±6.14)points,and the dimension of fear of missing situation[(9.24±3.86)] was significantly higher than that of fear of missing information[(8.48±2.97)](t=4.326,P<0.01).The total score of FoMO was strongly negatively correlated with work flow(r=-0.917,P<0.01),and positively correlated with job burnout(r=0.783,P<0.01). Gender, position, education and marital status were the key factors for FoMO(all P<0.01). Conclusion The FoMO among 265 ICU nurses in 6 grade-A tertiary hospitals in Suzhou City shows a multi distribution pattern, and the FoMO can exacerbate job burnout and weaken work flow. It is suggested to build a three-level intervention system of "organization, team and individual",focus on implementing digital health management strategies for male, junior and less educated nurses, and improve professional psychological resilience through information decompression chamber system and mindfulness shift practice.
