Abstract: Objective To investigate the current status and influencing factors of social loafing among clinical nurses. Methods In May 2023,a convenience sampling survey was conducted on 396 clinical nurses from a grade-A tertiary hospital in Wuxi using a general information questionnaire, turnover intention scale, and social loafing scale, and the data were analyzed. Results The turnover intention score for nurses was (17.34±3.36)points,and the social loafing score was (38.32±8.49)points. Average monthly income, night shifts, job satisfaction, and turnover intention were all independent influencing factors of social loafing among clinical nurses(all P<0.05),with turnover intention independently explaining 16.9% of the total variation in social loafing. Conclusion The social loafing of clinical nurses in a grade-A tertiary hospital in Wuxi is at a relatively high level. Relevant managers can consider improving night shift working conditions, increasing job compensation and satisfaction, and reducing the level of turnover intention, thereby reducing the social loafing level of clinical nurses.
