Analysis on current situation and influencing factors of innovative behavior among freshman nursing students in three vocational colleges in Anhui Province

Abstract: Objective To understand the current situation of innovative behavior among vocational nursing students and analyze its influencing factors. Methods From May to June 2023,a convenient sampling method was used to investigate 446 freshmen nursing students from three vocational colleges in Anhui Province that offer nursing majors,using a general information survey questionnaire,a nursing student professional identity scale,a vocational mission scale(student version),and a college student innovation behavior scale to investigate and analyze the current situation and influencing factors of innovation behavior among vocational nursing students. Results The total score of innovative behavior among vocational nursing students was (61.12±12.47)points,and the average score of each dimension item from low to high was:academic exploration[(3.36±0.90)points],life practice[(3.57±0.78)points],thinking mode[(3.64±0.74)points],and learning and academic performance[(3.80±0.72)points]. Pearson correlation analysis showed that the innovative behavior of freshman nursing students in vocational colleges is positively correlated with their sense of professional mission and identity(r=0.662,0.746,both P<0.01). Multiple linear regression showed that academic performance,frequency of participating in class club collective activities,whether to participate in innovative course training,sense of professional mission,and sense of professional identity are the influencing factors of innovative behavior among vocational nursing students,accounting for 58.2% of the total variance. Conclusions The innovative behavior of vocational nursing students needs further improvement,especially in the academic exploration dimension. Educators should attach importance to cultivating a sense of professional mission and identity among vocational nursing students,stimulate their internal drive for innovative behavior,actively organize innovative training,encourage academic participation in collective activities,create an innovative atmosphere.
