Effects of resilience and empathy on job burnout in resident physician of general standardized training program

Abstract: Objective To analyze the effects of resilience and empathy on job burnout in the resident physician of general standardized training program in Shanghai,provide empirical research basis for preventing their job burnout. Methods From August to September 2021,a questionnaire survey was conducted using cluster sampling on 140 resident physicians of general standardized training program from four resident standardized training bases in Shanghai,and the data were analyzed. Results Among 140 resident physicians of general standardized training program,the score of emotional exhaustion was (18.06±9.13)points,the score of depersonalization was (6.96±4.81)points and the score of personal accomplishment was (25.26±8.66)points.105(75.0%)resident physicians of general standardized training program met the criteria for job burnout,and 99(70.7%) showed low level of personal accomplishment(PA). The occupational stress and total score of resilience entered the regression equation of emotional exhaustion(both P<0.05). The total score of empathy entered the regression equation of depersonalization(P<0.05). The satisfaction with income,total score of empathy and total score of resilience entered the regression equation of personal accomplishment(all P<0.05). Conclusion The income satisfaction,empathy and resilience are protective factors for job burnout in the resident physician of general standardized training program in Shanghai,and occupational stress is a risk factor.
