A meta-analysis on detection rate of job burnout among medical staff in China

Abstract: Objective To systematically evaluate the detection rate of job burnout among Chinese medical staff,provide reference for the intervention of job burnout. Methods The cross-sectional studies on the detection rate of job burnout among medical staff in China published from January 1,2020 to May 1,2022 was collected through computer retrieval of PubMed,Web of Science,Embase,CNKI,Wanfang and other Chinese and English databases. After layers of selection,data extraction and quality evaluation,the meta-analysis was performed using Stata 14.0. Results A total of 12 cross-sectional studies were included with a total sample size of 6 017 cases,and 3 863 cases of job burnout were detected. The results of meta-analysis showed that the detection rate of job burnout among medical staff in China was 68%(95%CI:60%-76%). The subgroup analysis showed the detection rate of job burnout among medical staff in 2020,2021 and 2022 was 61%(95%CI:37%-86%),71%(95%CI:61%-80%) and 61%(95%CI:58%-64%),respectively. The job burnout detection rate in nurses and doctors was 67%(95%CI:46%-87%) and 64%(95%CI:60%-69%),respectively. The job burnout detection rate of medical staff in eastern,central and western regions was 72%(95%CI:53%-91%),63%(95%CI:52%-74%) and 70%(95%CI:67%-73%),respectively. The detection rate of job burnout was 64%(95%CI:54%-75%) using the Maslach burnout inventory-general survey(MBI-GS) and 73%(95%CI:69%-77%) using the Chinese version of the Maslach burnout inventory(CMBI). Conclusion The detection rate of job burnout among medical staff is generally high,which should be paid attention to,and effective measures should be actively taken to intervene to reduce the occurrence of job burnout.
