Abstract: Objective To systematically evaluate the relationship between social frailty and adverse health outcomes of the elderly in the community. Methods PubMed,Web of Science,Embase,Cochrance Library,CNKI,WanFang data, and VIP were searched for cohort studies investigating the social frailty and adverse health outcomes of the elderly at home and abroad from inception to August 2022. A meta-analysis on extracted data was conducted by RevMan 5.3 software, and the descriptive analysis was performed on the data that cannot be merged. Results A total of 15 articles were included. The meta-analysis results showed that high-social frail elderly had higher risk of death(HR=1.35,95%CI:1.19-1.53,P<0.01),disability(OR=1.33,95%CI:1.18-1.50),P<0.01) and depression(OR=1.68,95%CI:1.25-2.25,P<0.05) than low-social frail group, and each additional social vulnerability deficit was associated with a 4% increased risk of death(HR=1.04,95%CI:1.03-1.05,P<0.01). The descriptive analysis results showed that social frailty could increase the risks of death, disability, depression, and cognitive decline in the elderly. Conclusions The social frailty of older adults in the community is closely related to death, disability, depression and other adverse outcomes,so the domestic scholars should pay more attention to the social frailty among older adults. It is necessary to identify the social frailty early and formulate corresponding intervention measures to prevent or slow down the progress of social frailty and reduce the occurrence of adverse health outcomes.
