Abstract:

Objective To investigate the current situation of work-non work boundary infiltration, role conflict, and occupational burnout among internal medicine nurses, and explore the mediating role of role conflict between work-non work boundary infiltration and occupational burnout among internal medicine nurses,in order to provide reference for reducing the level of occupational burnout among internal medicine nurses. Methods The convenience sampling was used to select 188 internal medicine nurses from five grade-A tertiary comprehensive hospitals in Qingdao City from March to April 2024 as the research subjects. The work-non work boundary infiltration scale, role conflict scale, and occupational burnout scale were used for investigation, and the data were analyzed. Results The scores of work-non work boundary infiltration, role conflict and occupational burnout in internal medicine nurses were (35.62±5.86),(24.15±5.32) and (62.16±12.25)points,respectively. The results of univariate analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences in the work-non work boundary infiltration in terms of gender, age, years of work, professional title, monthly income, marital status, and monthly night shifts(all P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in the role conflict and occupational burnout in terms of age, years of work, professional title, monthly income, marital status, and monthly night shift frequency(all P<0.05). The work-non work boundary infiltration of internal medicine nurses was positively correlated with occupational burnout(r=0.649,P<0.01),the role conflict was positively correlated with occupational burnout(r=0.594,P<0.01),and the work-non work boundary infiltration was positively correlated with role conflict(r=0.632,P<0.01). The role conflict partially mediated the relationship between work-non work boundary infiltration and occupational burnout among internal medicine nurses, with a mediation effect of 0.242,accounting for 46.72% of the total effect. Conclusion The role conflict of internal medicine nurses plays a partial mediating role between work-non work boundary infiltration and occupational burnout, and reducing the level of work-non work boundary infiltration and role conflict can help reduce the level of occupational burnout of internal medicine nurses.
