Abstract:

Objective To understand the current status of job burnout, role clarity, perceived stress, and emotional labor among anesthesiology nurses, and to analyze the role paths and relationships of perceived stress and emotional labor in the relationship between role clarity and job burnout. It aims to provide new ideas for preventing and improving job burnout among anesthesiology nurses and stabilizing the nursing team. Methods From June 2022 to May 2023,a total of 209 anesthesiology nurses working in 5 public hospitals of different levels in Nanjing were selected as research subjects using the convenience sampling method. A survey questionnaire was used to evaluate them, and the data were analyzed. Results Among the 209 anesthesiology nurses, the scores of job burnout, role clarity, perceived stress, and emotional labor were (61.90±4.25),(31.58±3.25),(39.71±3.09) and (55.00±4.35)points,respectively. Job burnout was negatively correlated with role clarity, and significantly positively correlated with perceived stress and emotional labor(r=-0.826,0.863,0.834,all P<0.01). Role clarity was significantly negatively correlated with perceived stress and emotional labor(r=-0.708,-0.761,both P<0.01). Perceived stress was significantly positively correlated with emotional labor(r=0.807,P<0.01). Both perceived stress and emotional labor played a partial mediating role in the relationship between role clarity and job burnout, with effect values of -0.084 and -0.085,accounting for 13.52% and 13.69% of the total effect, respectively. Conclusion The parallel mediation effect of perceived stress and emotional labor between role clarity and job burnout is established, confirming that role clarity can indirectly influence job burnout in anesthesia nurses by moderating perceived stress and emotional labor.
