Abstract:

Objective To analyze the characteristics of newly reported human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)/acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS) cases and the trend of new reporting rate in Hezhou City of Guangxi Province from 2005 to 2023,so as to provide scientific basis for formulating targeted AIDS prevention and control measures. Methods The annual newly reported HIV/AIDS case information and population information of Hezhou City from 2005 to 2023 were obtained from the China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention. The descriptive and statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS 23.0,and the epidemic trend of HIV/AIDS was analyzed using the Joinpoint regression model. Results From 2005 to 2023,a total of 8 986 HIV/AIDS cases were reported in Hezhou City, with an average annual new report rate of 23.05/100 000. The ratio of male to female cases was 2.47 ∶ 1,and the average annual new report rate for males was higher than that for females. The age group of 20-<50 years old accounted for 58.63% of all cases, with the highest annual new report rate in the age group of ≥50 years old. The cases were mainly concentrated in Babu District and Pinggui District, accounting for 33.73% and 28.38% respectively, with the highest new reporting rate in Pinggui District. The main mode of transmission was sexual transmission, with heterosexual transmission accounting for 78.13% and homosexual transmission accounting for 2.25%. 68.37% of case reports came from medical institutions, while 24.54% came from institutions for disease control and prevention. Joinpoint regression analysis showed that the overall new reporting rate of HIV/AIDS cases in Hezhou City showed a downward trend from 2005 to 2023(AAPC=-4.82%, P<0.01). Conclusion The new report rate of HIV/AIDS cases in Hezhou City is on the decline as a whole. The middle-aged,elderly and men who have sex with men are high-risk groups for HIV infection. We should continue to strengthen prevention and control measures such as publicity, intervention, testing and treatment to further control the prevalence of HIV/AIDS.
