Effects of role cognition,internal motivation and self-efficacy on core competence of community nurses in Urumqi

Abstract: Objective To understand the status quo and correlation of role cognition,internal motivation,self-efficacy and core competence of community nurses in Urumqi,explore the influence of role cognition,internal motivation and self-efficacy on core competence,so as to provide reference for improving the competence and quality of community nurses. Methods From December 2021 to April 2022,a total of 342 nurses from 21 health service institutions in Urumqi were investigated with the general information questionnaire,community nurse core competence evaluation questionnaire,internal motivation scale and general self-efficacy scale,and the data were analyzed. Results The score of role cognition of community nurses in Urumqi was (77.23±13.55)points,the score of internal motivation was (50.09±6.47)points,the score of self-efficacy was (26.93±5.51)points,the score of core competence was (131.62±30.35)points. There were statistically significant differences in the core competence scores of community nurses with different age,professional title,employment mode,education level,marital status,monthly income,community working years and whether to publish papers(all P<0.01). The core competence was positively correlated with internal motivation and self-efficacy(r=0.338,0.322,both P<0.01),and negatively correlated with role cognition(r=-0.144,P<0.01). The role cognition, internal motivation and self-efficacy could explain 20.7%,28.3% and 31.2% of the variation of core competence,respectively. Conclusion The core competence of community nurses in Urumqi is at the lower level of medium,and the community managers can improve the core competence of community nurses by strengthening the role cognition,improving the level of self-efficacy,and playing the role of internal motivation.
