Analysis on status quo of professional identity of obstetric medical staff in Suzhou City and its relationship with work stressors and organizational commitment

Abstract: Objective To explore the status quo and influencing factors of professional identity among obstetric medical staff in Suzhou City,analyze the relationship between their professional identity,work stressors and organizational commitment,and provide a basis for making decisions to improve the professional identity of obstetric medical staff. Methods From January to April 2022,a questionnaire survey was conducted on 192 obstetric medical workers in two hospitals in Suzhou City by the general data questionnaire,occupational identity scale,work stressor scale,and organizational commitment scale,and the data were analyzed. Results The score of professional identity in 192 obstetric medical workers was (92.79±15.87)points,the work stressor score was (69.97±17.84)points,and the total score of organizational commitment was (67.49±9.84)points. The total score of work stressors and the scores of each dimension were negatively correlated with professional identity(all P<0.05),while the total score of organizational commitment and the scores of each dimension were positively correlated with professional identity(P<0.05). The working age <5 years,sub-health,work stressors and organizational commitment were all influencing factors of professional identity of obstetric medical staff(β=0.103、0.127、-0.091、0.067,all P<0.05). Conclusions The professional identity of 192 obstetric medical workers in two hospitals of Suzhou City is not optimistic,the professional identity of obstetric medical staff is influenced by the working age,sub-health,work stressors and organizational commitment,and the job stressors have a negative effect on their professional identity,while organizational commitment has a positive effect on the professional identity. The management should take measures to reduce the working pressure of medical staff,enhance their organizational commitment,and enhance their professional identity.
