Analysis on current status and influencing factors of career adaptability among junior nurses in a grade-A tertiary hospital of Luzhou City

Abstract: Objective To learn the status quo and influencing factors of career adaptability among junior nurses,provide a reference for improving the career adaptability of junior nurses. Methods A convenient sampling was used to select 219 junior nurses from a grade-A tertiary hospital of Luzhou City as the survey subjects from December 2021 to January 2022. The general information questionnaire,nurses' psychological capital questionnaire(PCQ),workplace social capital scale(WSCS),perceived social support scale(PSSS) and nurses' workplace adaptability scale(NWAS) were used to investigate the respondents,and the data were analyzed. Results The total score of career adaptability among junior nurses was (64.70±12.21)points,and the average score of each item was (3.81±0.72)points. The single factor analysis results showed that there were statistically significant differences in score of career adaptability among junior nurses with different age,marital status,technical title,nursing age,love of nursing work,satisfaction of salary and satisfaction of current life(all P<0.05). The psychological capital,social capital and understanding social support of junior nurses were positive correlated with total score of career adaptability and scores of dimensions(all P<0.05). The multiple stepwise regression analysis results showed that age,psychological capital,social capital and perceived social support were the influencing factors of career adaptability(all P<0.05),which accounted for 76.0% of the total variations. Conclusion The career adaptability of junior nurses is at medium level,demonstrating that in the future,nursing managers can improve the career adaptability of junior nurses by enhancing their psychological capital,social capital and social support to ensure the stable development of the nursing team.
