Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship between boredom tendency and short video addiction of adolescents, and the mediating effect of self-regulatory fatigue. Methods In June 2022,the boredom tendency questionnaire, the self-regulatory fatigue scale, and the short video addiction scale were used to investigate 604 adolescents in Guangzhou City and Maoming City of Guangdong Province. The mediating effect of self-regulatory fatigue was tested by SPSS mediating model. Results The boredom tendency score of 604 adolescents was (43.38±8.96)points,and there were statistically significant differences in the boredom tendency score among adolescents whether only child or not and in different places(both P<0.05). The self-regulatory fatigue score was (44.26±7.27)points,and there were statistically significant differences in the self-regulatory fatigue score among adolescents in different gender(P<0.01). The short video addiction score was (37.91±10.49)points. 182 adolescents were addicted to short video, and the detection rate was 30.13%.There was statistically significant difference in short video addiction among adolescents whether only child or not and in different gender(both P<0.05).There were significant positive correlations between short video addiction and boredom tendency,self-regulating fatigue(r=0.38,0.36,both P<0.01). The boredom tendency positively predicted short video addiction in adolescents(β=0.28,P<0.01),and self-regulatory fatigue partially mediated the relationship between boredom tendency and short video addiction(β=0.10,P<0.01). Conclusion The status of short video addiction among adolescents in Guangzhou City and Maoming City of Guangdong Province is not optimistic, the boredom tendency can not only directly affect short video addiction of adolescents, but also indirectly affect short video addiction through self-regulating fatigue.
