Effect of social support and negative emotional events on family caring and aggressive behavior among nursing interns in higher vocational colleges of Sichuan Province

Abstract: Objective To investigate the status of family care and aggressive behavior among nursing interns in higher vocational colleges in Sichuan Province,and the mediating role of social support and negative emotional events between them. Methods A total of 326 nursing interns from three higher vocational colleges in Sichuan Province were selected as the research objects by convenience sampling method from October to December in 2021.The family care index scale,aggressive behavior scale,social support scale and negative event scale were used as the investigation tools. Results The scores of family care index,aggressive behavior,social support and negative emotional events of 326 nursing interns in Sichuan Province were (6.58±2.17),(60.49±11.85),(55.87±12.61) and (68.07±12.39)points,respectively.The correlation analysis showed thatfamily care of interns in higher vocational colleges was negatively correlated with aggressive behavior(P<0.05),social support was negatively correlated with aggressive behavior(P<0.05),and negative emotional eventswas positively and negatively correlated with aggressive behavior(P<0.05).The mediating effect analysis showed that social support and negative emotional events had a chain mediating effect between family care and aggressive behavior of nursing interns in higher vocational colleges. The mediating effect was 0.036,accounting for 6.10% of the total effect. Conclusion The aggressive behavior of nursing interns in higher vocational colleges in Sichuan Province is at a medium level,and enhancing family care and social support and reducing negative events have a weakening effect on the aggressive behavior of nursing interns.
