Abstract: Objective To explore the effects of stress on sleep of college students and the moderating effects of security and self-concealment,and to further understand the mechanism of stress on sleep of college students. Methods From January to February 2022,467 college students of Xinxiang Medical College in Xinxiang City, which were conveniently sampled by the convenient sampling method, were surveyed by the Athens insomnia scale, the Epworth sleepiness scale, stress response questionnaire, security questionnaire and self-concealment scale, and the data were analyzed. Results The college students scored (65.16±22.91)points on stress,(4.12±3.65)points on insomnia,(9.12±5.58)points on sleepiness,(61.1±15.24)points on security,and(31.3±11.38)points on self-concealment. The stress was positively correlated with insomnia and drowsiness(r=0.468,0.285,both P<0.01),security played a regulating role between stress and insomnia,sleepiness(β=0.247,0.247,both P<0.01),and self-concealment played a regulating role between stress and insomnia(β=0.119,P<0.01). Conclusions The college students with high stress are more likely to have sleep disorders such as insomnia and sleepiness. The lower the sense of security, the more likely the stress is to cause insomnia and sleepiness. The higher the level of self-concealment,the more likely the stress is to cause insomnia.
