Mediating role of psychological health risks between psychological resilience and occupational identity among nursing interns

Abstract: Objective To analyze the relationship between psychological health risk,psychological resilience,and occupational identity among nursing interns,and explore the mediating effect of psychological health risk between psychological resilience and occupational identity. Methods A convenience sampling method was used to select 232 nursing interns from four tertiary comprehensive hospitals in Shanghai and Suzhou from February to April 2022 as the research subjects,and their general demographic data,mental health risks,psychological resilience,and occupational identity scores were investigated. Results The professional identity score of nursing interns was (63.96±11.22)points,the psychological resilience score was (67.53±16.89)points,and the psychological health risk score was (66.09±16.75)points. The Pearson correlation analysis results showed that mental health risk was negatively correlated with occupational identity and its various dimensions(P<0.05),psychological resilience was negatively correlated with mental health risk and its various dimensions(P<0.05),and psychological resilience was positively correlated with occupational identity and its various dimensions(P<0.05). The mental health risk played a complete mediating role between psychological resilience and occupational identity. Conclusion During the internship process of nursing interns,it is necessary to enhance their psychological resilience to further understand personal mental health risks,thereby enhancing their professional identity and stabilizing the nursing team.
