Research progress on personal-job fit of nurses

Abstract: Personal-job fit refers to the degree of fit between an individual and the job he or she performs,covering the match between the skills required for the position and the actual abilities of the individual,as well as the fit between the conditions provided by the work environment and the expectations of the individual. The level of this fit has a significant negative predictive effect on nurses as an occupational group,and can effectively reduce the risk of burnout,intention to leave,and other career-related adverse consequences. At the same time,it plays an indispensable role in promoting the sustainable and healthy development of the nursing profession as well as significantly improving the quality of nursing work. This study reviews the concept,current situation,assessment tools and influencing factors of nurse personal-job fit,and explored strategies to improve nurse personal-job fit,aiming to draw the attention of nursing managers to nurse personal-job fit,and to provide valuable references and inspirations for further related research and practice in China.
