Investigation on occupational stress status among production workers in a chemical drug preparation manufacturing enterprise in Chongqing

Abstract: Objective To analysis the current situation of occupational stress among production workers in a chemical drug preparation manufacturing enterprise in Chongqing,so as to provide reference for improving occupational stress intervention work in the enterprise. Methods A survey was conducted on all production workers who participated in occupational health examinations during their employment in a chemical drug manufacturing enterprise in Chongqing in 2023. The occupational stress inventory-revised edition(OSI-R) was used to conduct an online questionnaire survey,and the survey data were analyzed. Results The scores of occupational task questionnaire and personal stress response questionnaire for 224 production workers included in the survey were (133.72±23.69) and (79.32±19.24)points,respectively,which were significantly lower than the norm group in southwest China(both P<0.01). The score of the personal adaptability questionnaire for production workers was (130.58±18.25) points,with no statistically significant difference compared to the norm(P>0.05),but the scores for social support and rational handling dimensions were lower than the norm(both P<0.05). The incidence rates of moderate or above occupational task stress,moderate or above stress response,and moderate or above lack of adaptability among production workers were 1.79%,7.14% and 12.95%,respectively. The occupational task stress questionnaire scores of male workers were higher than female workers,and the personal stress response questionnaire scores of workers unmarried and owning bachelor degree or above were respectively higher than workers married and owning college degree or below,and the differences were all statistically significant(all P<0.05). Conclusion The overall situation of occupational stress among production workers in a chemical drug preparation manufacturing enterprise is at a good level. Occupational stress intervention should focus on male,unmarried and highly educated workers. By strengthening social support and providing workers with resources,guidance and assistance to improve workers' ability of controlling own emotion and coping with occupational stress.
