Abstract: Objective To quantitatively analyze researchers, research institutions, research hotspots, and development trends in the field of mental health of Chinese military at high altitude using CiteSpace visualization software. Methods Taking the CNKI and Army Medical University Online Library as search source, with the help of CiteSpace, this paper analyzes the authors, institutions and keywords, etc. of 422 articlesin this field. Results The number of publications in this field had gone through three stages of development, the stable stage from 1994 to 2003,the circular growth stage from 2004 to 2015,and the gradual decline stage from 2016 to 2023. In the author cooperation network, there were 512 nodes with a total of 1 483 links, and the cooperation between authors was strong. In the institutional cooperation map and frequency ranking, there was less cooperation between institutions, and the Army Medical University was the strongest force in the field. In the map of research hotspots, the top ten hotspots were plateau, mental health, military, high altitude, sleep quality, soldiers, depression, anxiety, psychological stress, and soldiers at high altitude, with high centralit. In the clustering map and the time zone diagram,it was found that the research hotspots could be clustered into 11 categories, which were roughly divided into two aspects:research object and research content on mental health. The mental health research of Chinese military at high altitude in different periods focused on different aspects. Conclusion In the past 30 years, the total amount of research on the mental health of Chinese military at high altitude is relatively small. There are limited authors in this field for a long time, limited cooperation between institutions, less interdisciplinary exchanges, and insufficient innovation in this field. Future research needs to strengthen cooperation and keep pace with the times.
