Status of career compromise among nursing staff in traditional Chinese medicine department in Northeast Sichuan region and its correlation with career future time insight and management care

Abstract:

Objective To explore the current situation of career compromise among nurses in the traditional Chinese medicine department and the mediating role of future time insight and management care in this process,laying a foundation for reducing their career compromise and enhancing their work enthusiasm. Methods From August to September 2024,a convenience sampling method was used to select 343 traditional Chinese medicine nurses from eight comprehensive hospitals/traditional Chinese medicine comprehensive hospitals in Northeast Sichuan as the survey subjects. The general information questionnaire,career future time insight scale,management care scale,and career compromise scale were adopted for investigation,and the data were analyzed. Results The scores of occupational future time insight,management care and occupational compromise of traditional Chinese medicine nurses were (23.70±3.10),(125.83±7.03) and (45.84±6.79)points,respectively. The occupational compromise scores were negatively correlated with the scores of management care and occupational future time insight(all P<0.05). The occupational future time insight partially mediated between management care and career compromise,with an effect value of -0.192,accounting for 27.6% of the total effect. Conclusions The career compromise among nursing staff in traditional Chinese medicine departments is at a high level,and management care can directly affect career compromise or indirectly affect career compromise through career future time insight. The managers can improve the nursing staff's perception of career compromise by improving their level of perceived management care and insight into career future time,which enables the nursing staff of traditional Chinese medicine departments to devote themselves to their work in a positive state and promotes the provision of traditional Chinese medicine nursing services to patients.
