Abstract:

Objective To understand the sleep status of adult residents in Xinjiang, and provide scientific basis for the prevention and treatment strategies of chronic diseases in Xinjiang. Methods From August to October 2023,a multi-stage stratified random sampling method was used to select 4 914 adult permanent residents in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region as survey subjects. A personal questionnaire on chronic diseases and risk factors monitoring of Chinese residents was used to collect demographic information,health-related information, and sleep related information of the survey subjects. Differences were analyzed using t-test,variance analysis, and chi-square test, and binary Logistic regression was used to identify influencing factors for sleep deprivation and sleep disorders. Results The average daily sleep time of 4 914 survey subjects was (7.4±1.5)hours,with 24.3%(1 194/4 914) experiencing sleep deprivation and 66.6%(3 272/4 914) experiencing sleep disorders. Multivariate analysis showed that after controlling for gender variables, individuals aged 50-<66 years(OR=3.200,95%CI:2.147-4.769),≥66 years(OR=3.687,95%CI:2.439-5.572),residing in rural areas(OR=0.716,95%CI:0.613-0.837),with average health status(OR=1.398,95%CI:1.209-1.617),poor health status(OR=2.250,95%CI:1.708-2.965),and experiencing depressive symptoms(OR=2.437,95%CI:1.987-2.988) were associated with sleep deprivation;34-<50 years old(OR=1.624,95%CI:1.273-2.071),50-<66 years old(OR=3.302,95%CI:2.567-4.247),≥66 years old(OR=3.719,95%CI:2.785-4.967),college degree or above(OR=0.662,95%CI:0.517-0.884),non-agricultural livestock production personnel(OR=1.209,95%CI:1.020-1.432),unemployed(OR=1.321,95%CI:1.025-1.702),average health status(OR=1.792,95%CI:1.563-2.054),poor health status(OR=4.736,95%CI:3.089-7.264),depressive symptoms(OR=2.961,95%CI:2.213-3.962),and alcohol consumption behavior(OR=1.368,95%CI:1.098-1.704) were associated with sleep disorders. Conclusion Sleep time is an important health indicator for individuals, and sleep problems for people aged 34 and above should be highly valued. Widely publicize the hazards of sleep disorders and raise residents' awareness of the dangers of sleep disorders.
