Abstract:

Objective To investigate the impact of trait self-objectification on online impulsive shopping among female college students,in order to provide theoretical basis for a deeper understanding of the formation mechanism of non-self-disciplined online shopping among female college students. Methods From November to December 2024,a questionnaire survey was conducted on 380 female college students from a university in Guangdong Province to investigate their online impulse buying tendencies and related influencing factors, and the data were analyzed. Results The score of trait self-objectification was (31.80±7.34)points,the score of certainty in control was (25.70±6.84)points,the score of social intuition was (13.44±3.39)points,the score of online impulsive buying was (35.19±9.57)points,and the score of symptom rumination was (22.82±6.52)points. Trait self-objectification could positively predict online impulsive buying(β=0.394,P<0.01). Certainty in control and social intuition were chain mediators of trait self-objectification affected on online impulsive buying(95%CI:0.010-0.042). Symptom rumination played a positive role in moderating the relationship between certainty in control and social intuition in the chain mediating path(β=0.15,P<0.01). Conclusion The trait self-objectification can influence female college students' online impulsive buying through certainty in control and social intuition, while symptom rumination increases the influence of certainty in control on social intuition to a certain extent.Education staff can reduce students' online impulsive purchasing behavior by providing psychological health education, improving interpersonal relationships, and enhancing communication skills
