Methods From January to June 2022,412 clinical nurses from two tertiary public hospitals in Anhui Province were selected as the subjects by stratified sampling method. The survey tools were general information questionnaire,COVID-19 fear rating scale, nurses' nursing stressors scale and nurses' occupational benefit questionnaire. Results The total scores of COVID-19 fear, nursing stress and perceived occupational benefit among 412 clinical nurses in Anhui Province were (51.79±18.26),(75.54±22.98) and (125.69±14.73)points,respectively. According to correlation analysis, there was a significant positive correlation between COVID-19 fear and nursing work stress scores of 412 clinical nurses in Anhui Province(P<0.05),and a significant negative correlation between perceived occupational benefit and COVID-19 fear, nursing work stress scores(all P<0.05). Bootstrap mediating effect test results showed that the mediating effect value of perceived occupational benefit between COVID-19 fear and nursing work stress among 412 clinical nurses in Anhui Province was 30.11%(P<0.01). Conclusions The perceived occupational benefit,as an intermediary factor, can effectively regulate the relationship between COVID-19 fear and nursing work stress among 412 clinical nurses in Anhui Province. It is suggested that nursing administrators can enhance the level of perceived occupational benefit of clinical nurses through intervention ways,so as to indirectly reduce the distress of negative emotions, improve nursing quality, maintain patient safety, and promote the occupational health of nurses.
