Abstract: Objective To study the current situation and influencing factors of occupational uncertainty in rotating nurses. Methods In September 2022,a convenient sampling method was used to select 326 rotating nurses from Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University as the research subjects. The survey was conducted using the general information questionnaire, unbearable uncertainty scale, professional identity scale, and perceived stress scale. Results The total score of occupational uncertainty for 326 rotating nurses was (36.75±9.58)points,the total score of perceived stress was (42.25±10.32)points,and the total score of occupational identity was (95.50±22.46)points. Perceived stress was positively correlated with occupational uncertainty(P<0.05),while occupational identity was negatively correlated with uncertainty(P<0.05). The regression analysis results showed that satisfaction with income, working overtime and staying up late, worrying about occupational exposure, current department, professional identity, and perceived pressure were the main factors affecting the occupational uncertainty of rotating nurses(adjusted R2=0.47,all P<0.05). Conclusion The occupational uncertainty of rotating nurses is at a moderate level. In the future, nursing managers can take measures based on relevant influencing factors to reduce the occupational uncertainty of rotating nurses, stabilize nursing staff, and promote the development of the nursing industry.

Key words: Rotating nurses, Intolerable uncertainty, Perceived pressure, Professional identity, Influencing factors
