A study on influencing factors of presenteeism among emergency department nurses in grade-A tertiary hospitals of Nanchang City

Abstract: Objective To explore the status and influencing factors of presenteeism of nurses in emergency department,provide reference for improving the effective attendance rate of nurses in emergency department. Methods By using the convenient sampling method,150 nurses in emergency department were selected from three grade-A tertiary hospitals in Nanchang from September to October 2020,and the Chinese version of presenteeism scale and organizational silence scale were used to investigate the status quo of organizational silence and presenteeism of nurses in emergency department and their influencing factors. Results The score[MP25P75)] of presenteeism of nurses in emergency department was 17(15,20)points,89 nurses had higher presenteeism(59.3%) and 61 had lower presenteeism(40.7%). The results of univariate analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences in the scores of presenteeism among nurses in emergency department with different health status,length of service,whether they had experienced hospital violence in the past year and income satisfaction(all P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in the high presenteeism among different health status,professional title and income satisfaction(all P<0.01). The health status,income satisfaction and acquiescent silence were the independent influencing factors of presenteeism of nurses in emergency department(all P<0.05). Conclusion The phenomenon of presenteeism of nurses in emergency department is serious,and it is necessary to carry our the timely intervention according to the main influencing factors to improve the health productivity of nurses in emergency department.
