Abstract: Objective By using a meta-analysis,to systematically evaluate the correlation between sleep status, anxiety, and depression among medical students based on Pearson correlation coefficient. Methods The studies on correlation between sleep quality, anxiety and depression of medical college students were searched in CKNI,VIP,CBM,Wanfang,Pubmed,Cochrane Library,Sciencedirect,EMBASE and EBSCO from inception to December 2021. The literature was screened according to inclusion and exclusion criteria,to evaluate the quality, and extract the data, and the meta-analysis was performed by RevMan 5.3 software. Results Totally 14 studies were recruited, including 9 798 subjects. Meta-analysis showed that summary correlation coefficient of the total score of Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI) with anxiety factors and depression factors of symptom cheek list-90(SCL-90) was 0.405,95%CI:0.37-0.49 and 0.414,95%CI:0.37-0.52,respectively. The summary correlation coefficient of the total score of PSQI with self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) and self-rating depression scale(SDS) was 0.493,95%CI:0.38-0.69 and 0.508,95%CI:0.33-0.79,respectively. The summary correlation coefficient of the total score of PSQI with anxiety factors and depression factors of the depression anxiety stress scale(DASS-21) was 0.282,95%CI:0.16-0.42 and 0.291,95%CI:0.11-0.49,respectively. The differences were statistically significant(all P<0.01). Conclusions There is above the average correlation between sleep quality and depression, anxiety in medical college students. The systematic methods should be established to guarantee college students' physical and mental health so as to improve their sleep quality and promote their physical and mental health.
