Survey on the current status of sense of meaning in life among medical undergraduates at Inner Mongolia Medical University

摘要:

目的 对医学生生命意义感现状进行调查,分析其生命意义感的相关影响因素,为医学教育者提供科学数据支持,帮助医学生树立正确价值观。方法 采取便利抽样法于2023年4—9月对内蒙古医科大学933名本科医学生使用一般资料调查表、生命意义感量表、中文版死亡态度描绘量表(修订版)、死亡焦虑量表及死亡教育需求量表进行问卷调查,并对数据进行分析。 结果 933名医学生生命意义感总分为(91.93±15.41)分,其中高分组有84人,占9.10%;中分组415人,占44.48%;低分组434人,占46.51%。死亡恐惧总得分为(22.70±5.91)分,所以死亡态度以死亡恐惧为主,且死亡态度与医学生生命意义感呈正相关。死亡焦虑得分为(45.22±8.17)分,单项条目得分为(3.01±0.54)分,死亡焦虑水平较高。死亡教育需求总分为(41.85±7.16)分,条目均分为(4.19±0.72)分,对死亡教育需求较高。家庭幸福感自我评价、死亡态度、死亡焦虑、未来就业形势如何与医学生生命意义感均呈显著相关(均P<0.05)。结论 933名医学生生命意义感偏低、且不能正确看待死亡,生命意义感影响因素包括家庭、个体及社会层面,其中父母的关怀与支持、家庭幸福感自我评价、学生对其专业的喜欢程度、是否担任班委、参加社团活动的频率、对未来就业前景的看法、人际关系、死亡态度及死亡焦虑是其主要影响因素。高校需增强对医学生生命意义感的重视,积极开展生命意义感相关指导课程帮助学生建立积极乐观的生活态度。

Abstract:

Objective To investigate the current situation of medical students' sense of meaning in life,analyze the relevant influencing factors,provide scientific data support for medical educators,and help medical students establish correct values. Methods From April to September 2023,a convenience sampling method was used to survey 933 undergraduate medical students at Inner Mongolia Medical University using a general information questionnaire,the sense of meaning in life scale,the Chinese version of the death attitude portrayal scale(revised),the death anxiety scale,and the death education needs scale,and the data were analyzed. Results The total score of the sense of meaning in life among 933 medical students was (91.93±15.41)points,of which 84 were in the high group,accounting for 9.10%;415 people in the middle group,accounting for 44.48%;434 people in the low group,accounting for 46.51%. The total score of death fear was (22.70±5.91)points,indicating that death attitude was mainly based on death fear,and death attitude was positively correlated with medical students' sense of meaning in life. The score for death anxiety was (45.22±8.17)points,and the score for individual items was (3.01±0.54)points,indicating a high level of death anxiety. The total score of death education need was (41.85±7.16)points,and the average score for each item was (4.19±0.72)points,indicating a high demand for death education. The self-assessment of family well-being,attitude toward death,death anxiety,and future employment situation were significantly correlated with medical students' sense of meaning in life(all P<0.05). Conclusion Totally 933 medical students have a low sense of meaning in life and cannot view death correctly. Factors affecting their sense of meaning in life include family,individual,and social levels,among which parental care and support,self-assessment of family well-being,the degree of liking of the students' specialty,whether they are class members or not,the frequency of participating in club activities,the view of the future employment prospects,interpersonal relationships,the attitude towards death,and the anxiety about death are the main influencing factors. Colleges and universities need to pay more attention to medical students' sense of meaning in life,and actively carry out guidance courses related to the sense of meaning in life to help students establish a positive and optimistic attitude toward life.
